All 27 Starter Pokemon Promos Revealed for the First Partner Illustration Collections
![]()
Every single starter Pokemon from all nine generations is getting a promo card. All 27 have now been officially revealed for the First Partner Illustration Collections, and the community is losing it in the best way possible.
Here is everything you need to know about what is coming, when it drops, and why these are the kind of cards you want to rip live.
What Are the First Partner Illustration Collections?
The First Partner Illustration Collections are a series of small boxed products, each containing three starter Pokemon promo cards from the same generation, two 30th Celebration booster packs, and a 3-card paper stand so you can display all three promos together.
In Japan, these are called the "30th Celebration Card Sets" and each box releases on October 16th for 1,200 yen (roughly $7.50 USD). The English versions are being released by TPCi as the First Partner Illustration Collections across three separate series.
Series 3, which covers the Hoenn, Kalos, and Paldea starters (Treecko, Torchic, Mudkip, Chespin, Fennekin, Froakie, Sprigatito, Fuecoco, and Quaxly), releases on August 7th. TPCi has now confirmed the English versions of all remaining promos.
All 27 Starters, All 9 Generations
This is the full lineup across all three series:
Series 1 (Kanto and Johto)
Bulbasaur, Charmander, Squirtle, Chikorita, Cyndaquil, Totodile
Series 2 (Sinnoh, Unova, and Alola)
Turtwig, Chimchar, Piplup, Snivy, Tepig, Oshawott, Rowlet, Litten, Popplio
Series 3 (Hoenn, Kalos, and Galar/Paldea)
Treecko, Torchic, Mudkip, Chespin, Fennekin, Froakie, Grookey, Scorbunny, Sobble, Sprigatito, Fuecoco, Quaxly
Every unevolved starter from every mainline game, all in one cohesive promo set. The artwork style is clean, colorful, and built for display, which is exactly what makes these so collectible.
Why These Cards Matter for Collectors
These are not chase cards in the traditional sense. They are not Secret Rares or Special Illustration Rares with four-figure price tags. What makes them special is the completionist appeal. Collectors who want one of every starter, or who have a favorite generation, are going to want full sets of three.
The Gen 3 trio (Treecko, Torchic, Mudkip) is already generating the most hype in the community. Mudkip in particular is getting a lot of attention for its artwork, and Treecko fans have been waiting a long time for a fresh standalone promo. The Hoenn starters have not had a lot of dedicated promo love in recent years, so Series 3 is going to move fast.
The Gen 9 starters (Sprigatito, Fuecoco, Quaxly) are also popular with newer collectors who came into the hobby during Scarlet and Violet. These promos give that audience a clean, affordable entry point into collecting something meaningful.
What to Expect on Price
At 1,200 yen per box in Japan, these are designed to be accessible. The English versions should land at a similar price point. However, as with most Pokemon TCG products that have collector appeal, supply is the real variable. Series 1 and 2 have already been difficult to find at retail in some markets, with boxes selling well above MSRP on the secondary market.
If you want these at a fair price, the best move is to get in early, either through preorders or through a rip and ship session where you can see exactly what you are getting before it ships.
