First Pitch Black English Cards Revealed: Mega Darkrai ex, Mega Zeraora ex and More

The first batch of English cards from Pokemon TCG: Mega Evolution - Pitch Black has officially been revealed, and the set is shaping up to be one of the most exciting releases of 2026. Dropping on July 17, 2026, Pitch Black is a near 1:1 English adaptation of Japan's Abyss Eye set, bringing Mega Evolution Pokemon from the Mega Dimension DLC in Pokemon Legends: Z-A to English players for the first time.

What Is Pitch Black?

Pitch Black is the fifth English expansion in the Mega Evolution era. The set is headlined by Mega Darkrai ex, the shadowy mythical Pokemon that commands the darkness, alongside Mega Zeraora ex, which strikes with electrifying speed. Rounding out the Mega Evolution lineup are Mega Chandelure ex and Mega Excadrill ex, each bringing powerful new strategies to the competitive scene.

The English Reveals

The first wave of English card reveals confirms that Pitch Black is a clean translation of Abyss Eye with English card names, updated attack text, and the standard English card layout. The Mega Evolution mechanic introduced in the Mega Dimension DLC carries over fully, with each Mega Evolution Pokemon ex featuring the signature oversized artwork that collectors have come to love.

Mega Darkrai ex is the clear chase card of the set. Its Special Illustration Rare version features dramatic full-art shadow imagery that is already generating serious collector interest. Mega Zeraora ex is expected to be a competitive powerhouse, with its lightning-type attacks making it a strong pick in the current meta.

What This Means for Collectors and Players

Pitch Black arriving as a near 1:1 copy of Abyss Eye is great news for English collectors. It means every SIR, every Illustration Rare, and every chase card from the Japanese set will be available in English.
